Cannot Create Solution

Jul 20, 2013 at 10:50 PM
I am trying to create a new project on Windows 8 with Visual Studio 2012. I selected to create a new "Modern UI WPF Application" from the template menu and I get an error that says - "Unable to locate the solution directory. Please ensure that the solution has been saved" prior to even showing the MainWindow.

Trying to run I get

Error 1 The tag 'ModernWindow' does not exist in XML namespace ''. Line 1 Position 19. C:\Users\David\AppData\Local\Temporary Projects\ModernUIApp1\MainWindow.xaml 1 19 ModernUIApp1

Error 2 The tag 'ModernTab' does not exist in XML namespace ''. Line 10 Position 10. C:\Users\David\AppData\Local\Temporary Projects\ModernUIApp1\Pages\Settings.xaml 10 10 ModernUIApp1

Odd. Are you using the express edition of VS or the full version.

Anyone else experienced this?

For anyone who is looking for the answer to this. The problem is the VS IDE is not saving the project when creating it, and generating the "unable to locate the solution directory warning" This error also prevents the correct references being loaded and files being copied.

To fix this error, before creating the ModernUI WPF project, select TOOLS->OPTIONS->Projects and Solutions from the VS2012 menu and ensure "Save new projects when createted is checked.
